Art ~ Nature ~ Delight
Welcome
Schwante Castle is a special place. Surrounded by the fields and forests of Upper Havelland, the baroque Schwante Castle is located only 25 km northwest of Berlin, and yet you find yourself in a different world. The castle was built between 1741 and 1743 by Erasmus Wilhelm von Redern and his wife Catharina Elisabeth von Bredow. The building, with its wonderfully structured facade, is assumed to have been designed by Georg von Knobelsdorff, the architect of Frederik the Great.
Schloss Schwante has served as a manor and family home for centuries. Schwante was home to the Redern family, followed by the Sommer and Bülow families more recently. Today, we live with our four children in Schloss Schwante, doggs and grandparents included.
It is our goal to create a lively environment for art, nature and delight at Schlossgut Schwante. The centerpiece of the grounds is the ten-hectare sculpture park, the Restaurant im Backsteinhaus, and the farm shop (opening times, May to mid October 2022, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am). We organize a variety of activities, such as the open air cinema, dance evenings, lectures, concerts, and a yoga & arts festival.
Have a look at our calendar. We look forward to your visit!
